Am I the youngest guitar player here?
Am I the youngest guitar player here?
I'm 14 and a Freshman in high school and I think I'm the youngest guitar player here! I can play all of the dmb songs except a few that I haven't gotten around to learning, but I can play Tripping Billies, Stone, Warehouse, Lover Lay Down, etc. Now i'm working on Stream so I can play it in this guitar recital thing at school for my guitar class! And i'm saving up for a nice Taylor (614ce or 914ce). Where do I go as far as guitar playing once i've mastered Stream?

I just turned 16 a few ago...nice to hear that some others are young as well...
after stream (?) ... back in time...visit the 70's and open that can... you will be locked in the music back then for a decade before you can say that you have covered them the way you want to...if that makes any sense...

Writing your own stuff. I think that if you realize that you can play almost anything you try to learn then you need to start coming up with your own stuff. Because going through and just playing what other people wrote doesn't make you an artist...you may be a damn good guitar player but your potential isn't realized until you can write for yourself. (my .02 - and it's Canadian so it's worth squat!)mdmt619 wrote:I'm 14 and a Freshman in high school and I think I'm the youngest guitar player here! If you're not going for that then....try Classical Gas...or even some Clapton, more Tim Reynolds songs. Whatever you feel like playing.
Peace,
im 14 too and a freshman. i cant play quite every dave song, but only because i spend time on a lot of other stuff. i can play some of the easier hendrix, like hey joe and little wing, which are pretty hard, but i dont think im good enough to play stream. i havent tried the stone yet, but i heard its hard.

Definitely go with some Clapton. Also check out James Taylor. I learned on these two, and it's REALLY helped my ability to finger pick, which not many people know how to really do well, in my opinion.

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

I'd say go with writting your own stuff, thats what i eventually want to get into. I usually play a bunch of dave songs like everyone else, and whatever else i'm in the mood to learn. It's a good start for me i think, i've been playing since the summer. Altough i don't think i'm a good guitar player, i don't know alot of theory and reading tabs are pretty easy. All i know right now are pretty basic chords and scales. I'm just starting to learn my guitar and notes, chord structures and progressions, and all that good stuff. I've got plenty of time to learn though, until then i'll keep covering people i guess. Peace.

download Cool Edit Pro 2.0 from Kazaa and by a cheap computer mic. then set up an account at http://www.angelfire.com and host your songs there.djs488 wrote:i hae written three songs, but only have lyrics for one of them. but since im only 14, i cant afford any recording stuff so i cant post them.
It's pretty easy.
