Re: **Big Whiskey and The GrooGrux King** - Out Now
To the people who said all of what was on BTCS and the LWS was new:
A lot of what is on BTCS was not new.
Pantala Naga Pampa - a reworked What Will Become Of Me.
Rapunzel - a reworked jam from 1994.
Don't Drink the Water - another evolution of what was Weight of the World (the second version was Leave Me Praying).
Halloween - very old song.
Pig - a reworked version of Don't Burn the Pig.
Spoon - It was played live in 1997 during a D&T show before the BTCS sessions started.
Help Myself - another old tune that was given to Scream 2 soundtrack instead of Halloween
Then there are the little jams. The jam right after the Dreaming Tree has parts of ASTB and Deed Is Done in it.
A lot of what makes up the LWS was also old.
Digging A Ditch - was around since very early 1999
JTR - a reworked version of John the Revelator from late of 1998
Grace Is Gone - parts have been heard as early as 1992
Captain - a reworked Crazy that has been around since 1996
Bartender - an intro to Don't Drink the Water that was aborted during the BTCS sessions
Raven - an old live song that was played in 1995 and then segues into Typical Situation (and at that point also had the chorus of Little Thing as a part of the music as well).
The only albums that were completely 100% when released are Stand Up and BWGK. UTTAD, Crash, BTCS, LWS, Everyday, Busted Stuff, and Some Devil all had previously performed tunes, or reworked tunes on them.
Also, BWGK is definitely better than Stand Up, Everyday, and Busted Stuff by far. I love this new album, and I am surprised with how great it really is. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.

ants always marching on . . .
Not that your overall point is wrong, nor do I really give a shit, but you need to make a distinction between what constitutes new and what constitutes "re-worked". By your standards, BWGK is not 100% new because Baby Blue is an adaptation of Sister.
Also take a song like Grace is Gone, maybe Dave's been fiddling with that riff as early as who-the-hell-cares, that doesn't, by any means, make it an old song. A riff isn't a song and he's gone on record sayign that song was written about the death of his step-father from his mother's perspective when they were young, so until that actually happened and Dave wrote the actual song, only then it is a song and only then is it new.
I know you're just pointing out the fact that BTCS wasn't all new, and you're right, but just because the band has screwed around with the same chords on certain songs that were later released as different arrangements doesn't really make them "old" songs.
