I agree, I really hate unnecessary swearing in songs.Coldchillin wrote:Ugh, couldn't he have though of a different words than "fucking nut jobs" in Time Bomb. It just sounds so lame and takes away from the song IMO.

Now that the excitement of hearing new DMB songs is over with I gotta say I really have no desire to listen to most of these tracks. Lying in the Hands of God I think is the one true keeper on this album. I can honestly stack that song up with most of their earlier work, its just a great song. My Baby Blue is cool as well, but its a Dave solo song as far as I'm concerned. I've soured on Squirm a little bit, it feels forced after listening to it more. I kinda dig Why I Am and even Dive In to a certain extent, but the rest I don't care for and the more you listen to this you realize it is plagued with a lot of the same problems as Stand Up, weak lyrics and incomplete song writing.

Whatever, I'm really enjoying it.

tims guitat solo in dive in is so simple but so smooth - he really is a class act
Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"

just listened the whole way through - the most enjoyable album ive heard since fleet foxes last year - i am very happy with it and think the negativity so often shown on here is more a problem with the overly obsessive (and thus critical) nature of some members rather than the quality of the music-
grux; note the homage to ants marching and the atmosphere - perfect overture.
shake me lke a monkey- fast, fun and horn-ey
funny the way it is - solid song with two exceptional solos
Lying in the hands of god - interesting and complex composition - maybe a little high/cute for its own good lyrically
why I am - sure, its without the power of the vocals dave has live - still cool riff with great lyrics- drumms so tight here
Dive it - opening sounds like its form the "badly drawn boy" cutting room-liked the sticky sweet and irony glazed chorus
spaceman - i digg it a lot even if its a bt "busy".
squirm - I like the last stop vibe and i can imagine 30,000 people chanting the "drum beats louder" hook- great guitars
aligator pie - dave likes his bluegrass flavoured songs right now...sometimes you have to sort the M&M's into colors.
seven - it tries a litle hard but I think the album needed this sort of song at this position -
time bomb - wtf?
my baby blue- like it, beautiful orchestrations- but does that mean we no longer have sister if he has adapted the lick?
you and me - reminds me of the mash song for some reason - cool dave worthy guitar playing - not keen on chorus lyric
a very solid pop-rock album that i think WILL grow on me more over time. 4/5
my fav since BTCS -

I'm not even really excited to listen to this. I'm not even getting through whole songs. Some of them were pretty cool. I didn't think Squirm was anything special. I feel like they've just become a good pop band but they lost the special edge that made their first albums so good. Like they hit a maturity peak at BTCS and they just dumbed down. I just don't know about this band anymore.

Listening to the stream on Pandora right now. So far, I like it for the most part. I still have a few gripes here and there, but overall I'm pretty happy with it.
I had gotten to a point, what with good reviews but having questionable thoughts about some of the live stuff, that I was just hoping this would be better than Stand Up.
I think this surpasses Stand Up easily, and may even be better than Everyday as a whole.
The band just seemed to be doing something new again, like they did with Stand Up and Everyday. I don't think it's their best take on music, but it's far from their worst. I think if the band sticks together long enough to put out another album, we might see something decent again, as long as they can stay away from the crap producers.
