Am I the only one that didn't like what Cavallo had to say? He sounded exactly like Batson. Take a few quick ideas from everyone in the band for a week, work on them for 10 minutes and then put them away. That is exactly how they did things for Stand Up. And I don't like the rest of the band coming up with song ideas, they fucking suck at writing songs. Dave should be the only one writing things.
The more I listen to these new tunes the more I'm not really feeling them. Spaceman is just plain bad, its got that crappy reggae vibe that Break Free had, it kinda sounds like Stolen Away as well. Why I Am is ok, but its too electric, it doesn't really sound like them at all. And Funny The Way It Is, is really just a simple summer radio song with a catchy chorus, no more, no less.
I really think the standards are so low for this band now that any kind of improvement from Stand Up is getting way more credit than it deserves. Instead of asking ourselves if a song is actually good, we are just happy that they wrote a song with an intro, verse, chorus and bridge, its kinda sad that it has gotten to this point.

I can't keep holding my breath for another BTCS. It's not gonna happen. I'm passed being personally invested in the setlists and the quality of new material. I'm just gonna enjoy it for what it is, and right now I've got three new tunes that are fun, enjoyable and an improvement over their last album. That's good enough for me; I can't ask/expect much more out of the band anymore.

I gave up hoping for another BTCS a while ago. Although I still have a bit of faith for this album as a whole that it could at least be something close to Everyday. While not my favorite album they've put out, it is much better than Stand Up was.
I don't think these new songs are anything compared to what they used to write, but as far as it goes I am just hoping for something better than Stand Up. Even if this is their last album before they break up, I would hate to see a band with such a fantastic run in the industry end with something on the same mediocre level as Stand Up.

I really do want to have that mindset with the band, but its tough when you go back and listen to older albums and realize just how much better they use to be.
Regardless I am still looking forward to the album. And though Cavallo said that they just came up with ideas in the beginning like Stand Up I did like how he said they picked the best ones and really worked on them to develop and make them full songs instead of just slapping random ideas together and calling it a song like Batson did.

I think there's some differences between the two. Batson they kinda just took every stupid think whether or not it was all of 5 notes, or a rock progression stefan played while fucking around on a guitar and turned it into a song. I mean Dave could have farted on a snare drum and Batson would want to make a song around it. Cavallo seems to want to try and get the band to jam together, considering that's what they enjoy, and then seeing out of those things which ones are good and have potential to possibly become songs, and then work with them from there.
I might be wrong though.
