i think he meant to say verse and chorus the other way around

index and middle on the verse, thumb and index on the chorus. I think its easiest that way...I used to play w/ a pick.

Yeah when I pluck the verse it sounds to low, I can't make much volume plucking, course I suck.

for some reason i think its easier to use my middle instead of my index for the chorus

It's really f***ing hard for me to finger pick with my index finger, so I use my middle finger on just about every song that I have to finger pick it. I just don't feel comfortable using my index finger ;-)
