So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

First off, this site is great! I just discovered it about 2 hours ago, and had no idea that this place existed...very cool place. :D
So just let me introduce myself -- my name is Humpty----whoah sorry  , I mean Jared, & I've been playing guitar for about 6 years, I'm in an acoustic-only band, that plays a lot of Dave, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, etc. -all the good stuff :)

Anyway, as many posts as I've seen on this subject, I haven't seen what I'm looking for. The 2 parts of Stay or Leave (the Dave & Tim version) that are tabbed for standard tuning (w/ no capo) just do not sound right.
The "So What to do..." part and "Remember we used to..." part. The chords I've seen EVERYWHERE on Internet just don't sound right.

Thanks in advance to any helpful replies...

Code: Select all

"So What to do..."
The 7 with the star isn't played by Timmy, but you need it to sound like Dave

welcome to the boards bro. i always thought it sounded ok, but maybe im not listening close enough to tell its off. I guess if you can't find it anywhere and you really aren't satisfied, then the best thing to do would be to pick up a capo and play it that way.

well...all I can say is that they are tabbed from the video's of Timmy playing the song live so it's kind the best we can get to be accurate. Anyway welcome to the boards and keep quesitons like these coming. They only benefit everyone(including you of course). WELCOME AND ENJOY!

I live in West Virginia (no incest/redneck jokes please :) ) & I'm 26 ys. old. I didn't start playing guitar untill I was 21.... wish I would've picked up it sooner; but better-late-than-never, right!?
