I have an Acoustic Image Clarus head and Corus EX cab. Super clean tone, loud, fills a room due to it's speaker set up. I use a Boss Blues driver when I need any boost (sort of like a Scofield type crunch). I think I spent 1300, but it was well worth it.

Ok... I would say either Traynor, a used Vox, or maybe a Peavey Classic 30 or 50. You might be able to find something like a cheap Mesa, but that would be really lucky. I wouldn't recommend any of the Marshall's in that price range, honestly.
