Ever wonder?

Unread post by Onebadmofo » Mon Feb 10, 2003 1:24 am

Do you guys ever wonder if Dave logs on to this site and reads our praise and arguments about his music? I mean you would think that he would search for sites about him and his band. I know I would if I was a big an icon as he.

I really don't think he does. But it would make a good interview question to ask him if he ever has or ever will check these kinda boards.
good, and you?

i would highly doubt it, he seems like such a shy guy, and probably only cares about what HE thinks of the songs
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

OH COME ON, all ass kissing aside........you know he has to be curious. You dont make it that far by just what YOU think about your songs. He has to wonder what everyone else is thinking. We're the ones that bought the albums and see the shows....he has to wonder about our opinions. 8)

Im going to have to agree with Onebadmofo. I'm sure he does care what his listeners think of his music, and even more so after going so far with it. Im not saying he reads the boards but im sure he has ways to find out what listeners like, and don't. I just hope he does not put out an album like everyday again. :)
Yes, I am Indian and I play the guitar. Believe It.

Everyday...

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Mon Feb 10, 2003 1:19 pm

It's a little off topic, but I'm of hearing about how bad Everyday is. It's not bad, it's different, it's not what one would expect from Dave Matthews...But you know, I'm sure the man just wanted to try something new, something different...So if you don't like Everyday, then don't buy it, and please stop whining...

You can't expect a musician as versatile as Dave Matthews to produce an album with the same sound as "Under the Table and Dreaming" or "Crash" everytime you want some more Dave...

There are always posts about growing as a guitarist...Well let the man grow!...You may not like the more electric/baritone sound of Everyday, but obviously he did or he wouldn't have put it out...

Ok...I think I'm done...

Thank you....And remeber, people like you...

I agree with your opinion.....he should grow and experiment more with his work.....but you cant expect us to like everything he puts out after we've been exposed to so many awesome albums. Everyday was a fast album that really lacked creativity. I think they wrote the album in two weeks with that damn producer Glen Ballard....they should never work with him again.

Anywho....staying on topic. I think its crucial for an artist to look at forums like these to stay on top of public demand....because if there is no demand for you NOW, it doesnt matter what you did THEN. And believe you me, if albums like everyday keep coming out, I probably won't be as interested as I am today.

what if he really did check out some of the boards in his free time and just to be funny posted a few comments here and there and no one knows its actually him? Its not too far fetched, no matter how famous i got(not to say i will be) but I would still have time to look aournd a little on the internet and play a little practical joke. Anyways just a thought

that is a bunch of friggin bullshit. Let him grow!!!?!!? Yeah, Growing= some stupid fuckhead manager holding your hand while you write music, dictating everything that's recorded.

God Damnit, Everyday NEEDS to be ragged on as much as possible because it wasnt even a Matthews album. Some stupid shithead that's more worried about money than the welfare of Dave and his fans wrote it. 2 WEEKS!!! thats how long it took the WHOLE album to be made, what a bunch of crap. The band even thinks it's "the best" album they have written...I almost broke my TV when I saw Carter hold up the record chart for "Space Between" and says, "this is our best music"..........bull fuckin shit...that just shows how fuckin stupid society is, that it will let EVERYDAY reach the top and not CRASH or BTCS or any other album...Just like fuckin Nsync and Britney are at the top...thats where Everyday fits...

Dave should be ashamed of himself for letting someone else write his music... I mean come on.

He has very strong feelings on this issue, as do A LOT of people. Goto antsmarching.org and try to tell them they should like Everyday because its what Dave wanted to do. You'll get mobbed. I don't mind the album, because its better than most crap that's out there. But the reason Everyday exists is because the Lillywhite sessions weren't what the record company/label wanted to release to the world. They didn't have any shiny hits on them, and they knew that with DMB's popularity add an all time high, that the new album is gonna be huge and.....and.....and.....that's really graceful of you....and uh....and uh....and uh....thank you all very much, I hope you're having a good time.

needless to say I loss my train thought. long story short - Everyday, love it, or leave it, was a last ditch attempt to get a shiny enough album to make the "Big" people happy (record label, whatever) but out of it all, came a couple of nice little tunes and got Dave "back on track" or however you want to think about it.

At least, thats my 2 Canadian Tire dollars worth.

peace,
Ken
good, and you?
