Good way to prevent getting bored is learning a lick that is challenging. or better yet, write one that is challenging to you.

Find a tab for a sax part from a dmb tune (the sax licks at the end of stay are my favorite)
Chick Corea - great exercises for your fingers
Flecktones tunes - really really good warmup stuff

If you want some tabs for some tricky licks let me know.

I've been slacking on it big time, but I am compiling a decent collection of Charlie Parker licks. major, minor, ii-Vs, dominant/blues licks. I just don't usually have the patience to input it into my notation software. It just gets old quick. When I finish that I'll post it for you guys.

Bird Licks- http://www.sendspace.com/file/utgxjo

It's a PDF. Licks are divided by double barlines. Some of them don't go the last note of the phrase which would be the first note of the next measure. Since these were in a bunch of different keys, I didn't put the whole thing in one key signature, I just used accidentals. There are a couple repeats here, I believe. But I felt like these were some of the best and most commonly used licks and connecting phrases that Charlie Parker used.

Hit me up if you have any questions.

Whenever I get tired of playing I just try and play more challenging songs. I have a tendency to play the same songs over and when this happens I usually look to play new songs or make up my own melodies and such. I have been in many ruts especially when learning new songs as it can be discouraging when the songs don't sound right. I just kept forcing myself to play and I get better everyday!

I got to the point where I got too busy to play anymore. I had five kids and a job and a part time business, and by the time I got to the end of everything that was demanding my time I was too knackered to sit down and play.
Anyhow, I'm over being just a Drafthorse for a bunch of other people, even if I do love them. I've gotten a motorbike, and I've started to play, this time I'm going to be better than I used to be. Given it's been a long time, I'm going to start again and I'm going to just find some scales to work through and other technical basis stuff that I never did before, it was always seat of the pants stuff then.
I did teach a little at one point, only until people outgrew my limited skills, but they learned about how much fun they could have, with that in mind I've taken over a website at http://www.electricguitarlessons.net, and I'm going to make some intro stuff for free that people can watch on youtube, then if it's something people want to develop further there's some lesson stuff on the site that people can buy.
Anyway everyone, greetings from Australia

Flecktones
Chennai - 5/4 indian tune, lots of tough sections in here. They actually play it differently live. They cut out one of the toughest licks.
Reminiscence - Really tough lick towards the end of the tune.
Stompin grounds - workout for sure
Blue bop - at tempo this is a killer
Tell it to the gov'nor - very tough

Chick Corea
Spain, whole thing, great tune also
