Guitar choice

Unread post by Johnny25 » Tue Feb 03, 2004 8:58 pm

Ok so I have decided to save up all of my money for the next few years and buy a brand new guitar with it. The only question I have to ask myself now is, save up for a Martin acoustic or a Gibson Les Paul...I really like to jam around with acoustic, but then the next day I will want to take out my electric and come up with some cool licks or solo. Do you guys think there is a better choice to make or is it all preference?

if you have a decent acoustic, I would go for the Les Paul. If you really want to rock, or experiment, or perform with a band, defaintely Les Paul. The Les Paul can bring out great sounds for pretty much all styles. Also, if you want to get a Les Paul, the standard is good and the studio is just a stripped down version of the standard (and cheaper for still the great sound and quality) or if you want to go for the gold get the custom (and maybe ahte 3 pick up Black Beauty).

I agree. It seems alot of people (esp dave fans) get caught up in the martin/taylor issue. They make good guitars but IMO you can get more bang for you buck elsewhere.

Renaissance makes some awesome guitars. If you look under the new arrivals on that same website they show a different style that I like even better. the only reason not to get one is you have to plug it in.
