Question about copyrighting

When Dave copyrights a song, what is copyrighted besides lyrics? Is the music, too? Obviously you can't copyright a chord progression, but as far as the musical structure of a song. Second, if the music is copyrighted, is it written in sheet music or what? Third, is there a program or software anywhere that can convert tab into sheet music?

not sure about the copyright deals, but about the tab software you can use Powertab to convert tab to sheet music.
