hooking up acoustic to computer/live equipment
I didn't know what to search for exactly, and I can't remember if i already made a thread like this before, but I've been playing around with the idea of putting electronics into my Acoustic Taylor. I don't have a lot of money to spend so I'm really looking for a catch-all solution to the following that I want to do
1. Directly plug into my computer so I don't have to use one mic like I have been to record my voice and guitar (see: My Space Between cover to see what this sounds like)
2. I want to be able to play at small bars/coffee shops and I'm guessing this is all self-supplied stuff so I figure I will need an amp/pa. Thing is i don't know what the difference is between an amp and a pa.
i really don't know much about recording/electronics so any help is greatly appreciated.

Well as the resident big, huge, giant, huge recording nerd, I've gotta pose a question first. Okay, so two questions.
Which is more important to you, the live playing or the recording? (Some gear could potentially overlap.)
What kind of budget are you looking at?
Admittedly, I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to recording and am not particularly fond of the acoustic/electric-->computer sound.

hmm.. that is a good questionSimsUK wrote:Well as the resident big, huge, giant, huge recording nerd, I've gotta pose a question first. Okay, so two questions.

I'd guess I'd say the recording, since I would probably being doing that more often then the playing live. I don't like the acoustic/electric computer sound either, so I guess what I should say is what is the best way of getting my guitar recorded onto my computer and keeping the original sound as close as possible? Right now I have a USB mic (h2) that I use for voice/guitar at the same time. I was thinking another mic for the guitar, but then i thought maybe there is something out there that would sort of kill two birds with one stone (live and recording), especially since i'm only looking to spend a max of like 500 bucks.
