guitar and violin songs

Unread post by sbhanot » Sat Jan 24, 2004 5:32 pm

Other than DMB, what other songs are cool that feature a guitar and a violin (like "Good Riddance," by Green Day) - I have a friend who plays violin and wants to find fun stuff for us to play together..... any ideas?

well... if you Christian music theres Jars of Clay.... they have some non-religious songs that have violin... they make great music.

How about every bluegrass song ever written for starters

Only using a bow on guitar strings ruins the bow, very fast.

i used to play celtic music with some friends...but we weren't very good and it was just hard for me to get there cause they live so far away. Now Mike has picked up the hammer dulcimer and is AMAZING and they found a fiddle player. i want back in.

listen to matt nathanson live, he plays his songs with a cello player who is phenominal, anythign dave obviously, um glen philips is awesome with violin, he plays with nickel creek and it works well...try also playing original jams, that will get you off the most(so to say). well goodluck, if you have any recording software and yall get some jams going then you should try and record one for us to hear...peace and goodluck
