I have an AW100... I really like it... i have to say that for the 300 i like what i got, i bought it cause at the store i was it was the cheapest solid top at the time... its tough, noticibly heavier than my roomates martin(which is super light and i feel like ill break it when i play, obviously i wouldnt)... mine seems bomb proof, definitly took a bunch of knocks(and i mean these were hard) on desk corners and such, and other than pickguard scratches, there is nothing on it... i like the action even though its a bit higher than the martins and taylors, but with the higher action it takes a bit more oomph to press the strings which helps a gazzilion times in the long run in getting fingers strong and i believe the slightly higher action aids in playing dave style muting strings in the middle of chords... you can get the action adjusted at a luthier for like 20 bucks if its a big issue... sound is loud and i like it a lot(probobly why i bought), my brother played it for me at the store and he liked it and hes been playing music for 15 years...
my friend has a AEF18... it cost around 319 i really love her guitar... action is low plays great and has a pick up if you want to plug in ever... shes been playing for 8 years and that guitar sounds awesome when she plays... mine is louder acousticly... definitlycheck out ibanez i think they are great starter guitars... maybe cause im a starter myself...

I agree. They make quality guitars that sounds great for a reasonable price. I have come across a few that sounds absolutly horrible, but for the most part they are great guitars (definitly take someone that you trust that knows how to play a guitar when you purchace it if is your first guitar). My first guitar was an Ibanez PF-???? series. I picked it up for a little bit under 400, and loved it to death - it aged nicely. I just recently (2~3 years ago) moved to a Takamine EG332C. Takamine's have some good guitars out there for around the same price as Ibanez. Honestly, I'd goto a store and play every guitar that is in your price range, and pick which ever sounds the best.

Hope that helps. :)
Yes, I am Indian and I play the guitar. Believe It.

What about that starter pack they sell? The guitar that come in that package any good or is one of those horrible ones that you all you referred to? Here's the hyperlink:

I have issues with buying guitars online - simply because you do not get to play the intrument first. 179.00 for all that seems on the low end. The way I see it, you only play the instrument if it sounds good, and i got a hunch that will not (you pay for how it plays). That being said, what is your budget, then perhaps I can direct you to what options you have in purchaseing.

the reason I was asking specifically about the starter pack is because that is the guitar I have. I'm deciding whether or not to purchase a new guitar since I've really gotten into it and am much more willing to invest more cash into one. I guess about 800 would be the maximum I'd be willing/able to spend. Thanks for the help.
