The fact that the album is near completion is nerve wracking. That means most likely that the newer tour songs are on there and some rushed stuff maybe.

If I remember correctly the same hate was laid upon Everyday as is now reserved for Stand Up. I REALLY hope Stand Up isn't considered a masterpiece compared to the new album. I do enjoy how the band has successfully lowered the expectations of its entire fan base over the last 7 years. That they could put out an Everyday-caliber album and for us to consider it good is deplorable.

I totally understand if they could never make another BTCS or even what the LWS would have been, but they are still capable of much better music than what they have made lately.

I wasn't a fan back then either, but I think when Crash came out, they had already been playing a few of the songs on it for quite some time. So a lot of people already liked all of the songs, and were probably happy to see them after they didn't make UTTAD.

You will see. DMB will continue to put out lackluster albums until Carter gets too old and retires. Then, the band realizing the most talented member of the group is gone will disband leaving Dave to put out another masterpiece solo album on the lines of Some Devil, the last great thing he has done since writing the LWS songs.

I think people forget how amazing DMB used to be. Don't sell yourself short, DMB is turning into a nostalgia act. Given the guys are getting older, its expected to settle into a routine. I can't blame them. But come on, look at the lyrics and music from BTCS and compare them with anything recent. That was 10 years ago! It has been a steady decline ever since. I would love for DMB to come out with a masterpiece, but frankly I think they are tapped. The fact that a producer has SO MUCH pull over the direction of the last few albums is a testament to the FACT that the band is just working, not playing anymore.
