never heard of dickie....but i have heard grateful dead...a band that dave supposedly ripped off...

Dave and Tim alone would blow that whole band out of the water. well, that goes for any other band in the world too...IMO of course

You can find it on your P2P of choice... It's pretty, it's nice, but it's not Dave.

Cheers!

'his' songs arent all shitty
try 'neon' and 'victoria' and 'back to you'
those are pretty good
and as for comparing him to dave?
listen to his cover of lover lay down
i think he should tour with them
Key word being try on Neon. Damn that song is impossible.

wow, can't believe you just compared songs like man on the side and neon to fucking SK8TER BOI AND COMPLICATED. his guitar work is some of the best out there today, probably the best in the mainstream of music. i'm glad he's made it big because he can put everyother douche bag nickleback/creed/puddle of mudd crappy power chord players out there to shame. i'm not going to comment on his lyrics because i agree they can be weak at times (though you have to look at what dave had experienced at 24 versus what john has experienced at 24), but he absolutely rapes avril lavigne guitar wise. no contest.

i have one of the pictures here on my computer, someone can IM me for it if they want to host it somewhere.

I wouldn't want to be Dave, I wanna ride this Levi thing out.

Who knows, if I keep at this maybe I'll be bigger than Dave. You shouldn't be jealous of the guy, you should just be inspired.

As for all these imitation bands, I don't even care or pay attention to modern music anymore, there's just nothing very good out right now. The Audioslave CD is pretty good from what I've heard of it, and I might give Billy Corgan's new band a try, but I can't find the songs on Kazaa yet, so I'm gonna have to.... :( buy it :(

Speaking of which, Kazaa totally sucks for anything new. You can find the songs, but it's just all the same file that people rename, just to be funny. I mean, I'm trying to steal music here, and these people are just making it harder for me. Something should be done about this, the state should intervene. Seriously though, has anyone experienced that kind of problem?

So back to topic? No?

Is John Mayer Pop?

Thoughts?

Cheers!

I dont' know if anyone else said this casue I didnt read the whole thread, but, of course JM is pop. DMB is pop too. All those little girls that bought backstreet boys CD's 5 years ago, are buying the DMB Cd's now.

Aren't DMB nominated for the best pop artist at the Grammys??

I can't stand John Mayer's music - he quite obviously tries to capture the DMB style (especially with hsi voice) - and that's cool, because Dave's cool.

But I must say, that guy is an absolutely incredible guitar player.

We're in an era where talent means very little, and his is rarely talked about, but that guy is a damn good guitar player - much better than Dave and better than any other band we hear on the radio today (aside from MAYBE Avril's guitar work)

and for the record:

that was more a compliment to Mayer than a sleight to Matthews.
