Halloween Fingering (Simple Question)
On the verse part, what fingers does Dave use here?
---------------------
---------------------
---------------------
-9-9--/--10--10----
---------------------
-7-7--/---8---8-----
It is easier for me to use the first and third fingers, but I know that Dave usually uses the first and fourth fingers on these types of chords. Anyone know?

I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

As Matt said....1st and 4th. dave almost ALWAYS uses 1st and 4th on those power chords. It unbelievable....but he really does....it's amazing. Use those fingers as shown by the dave style lessons.....but most impoirtantly, use the fingers that are most comfortable for you. You don't have to play EXACTLY how Dave does. Re: Halloween Fingering (Simple Question)
It's almost strange that he would use those fingers on such high frets that are so close together, and especially in that song, cause with using the second finger for the slide, the first and third fingers are right there in position. oh well...jkanter wrote:As Matt said....1st and 4th. dave almost ALWAYS uses 1st and 4th on those power chords. maybe its because its easier to mute the other strings. It takes some time to get the pinky strong, but in the end its a better way to do it, in my opinion.billywestom wrote:It's almost strange that he would use those fingers on such high frets that are so close together, and especially in that song, cause with using the second finger for the slide, the first and third fingers are right there in position. oh well...jkanter wrote:As Matt said....1st and 4th. dave almost ALWAYS uses 1st and 4th on those power chords. it also allows for quicker changes to more stretched power chords
ex. going from 5 to 3 on low e but staying on 7 on d
i think dave must have started using these fingers for songs with stretched power chords in them and then just got used to doing it that way

Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

Re: Halloween Fingering (Simple Question)
I think yer right here, cause sometimes i have a problem hitting the open b string when i use the 1 and 3 fingers. so i am switching the to 1 and 4 fingers. but that open note sounds cool when yer trying to make it sound scary...gravedigger wrote:maybe its because its easier to mute the other strings.
