Dave's political views...

Unread post by Doron Diamond » Mon Jan 12, 2004 8:45 pm

Just got in the new Rolling Stone today, and was I the only one who was disgusted by Dave's comments on George Bush? It's one thing to have actual points to back up what you say, but to just call George Bush a "fucking idiot" and claim that he could literally run the coutry better is laughable. Dave's big thing was that George Bush Jr. is one of the people who have so much while so many hard workers go without. Well I offer Dave a solution- why doesn't he take his money, and just give it all away to people who don't have. I'm sure he donates to a ton of good causes, and does good things in general, but his comments in the interview were atrocious, and really turned me off to him as a person. Love or hate George Bush (although the reasons I've found for people hating him tend to be pretty weak), Dave's comments were just ridiculous. Anyone else have any thoughts?

bush is a big ugly tit, but i will end up voting for him because i don't think the democrats have a candidate worth voting for (without it being a wasted vote) it's sad, i think

I think his political views are moronic (or at least how he expresses them, I won't get into a debate over his beliefs, but I'll say I agree with some and disagree with others), as well as his usage of his pop status to manipulate the gullible public (this was discussed somewhere on another thread as well).

Hey, I only listen to dave for the music. I could care less if he even knew what politics were. I think it is very obvious that dave is liberal. I mean, a free concert for schools, ben and jerrys enviormental Ice cream, and he does donate a lot. I am not saying these are bad things, not at all, but being a conservative myself I dont think these are as important. I really dont think the democrates relieze they really dont have a chance. He did make me very happy with one comment he made during the today show. He was asked if he was going to use the stage to promote anti-bush. He siad he wants to stay as far away from that as possible. He knows he is there mearly to entertaine us all and that is exactly what he is going to do.

my point exactly. I listen to him for entertainment, not life lessons. Believe, I dont really wanna take life lessons from Dave. Maybe musical lessons, but not life

i think it's wrong to say that they shouldn't use the stage as a podium to promote what they believe...i mean, if there are celebrities using the stage to push for aids awareness or for charity or something, no one has a problem, but when people say something contraversial, they get questioned...maybe it's the way of the world, but i think if i were in a position to get my views out there, i might think about doing it....maybe this post was an incoherent piece of shit and the examples weren't great, but i hope you guys can get what i'm saying

It's not the fact that they are trying to express themselves, its just that Dave knows as well as anyone that not everybody has the same beliefs which can lead to conflict. Also, I'm sure many people, including some dmbtabs.com members would stop going to shows/buying cds/listening to them entirely. I, for one, think it would be cool cuz I am from a very liberal family and find it interesting. I'm not saying I agree with everything he says, or anything for that matter, I just find it interesting.... Mainly because some of my family members say the same stuff... I personally don't really buy into the whole Repub./Demo. idea. I will, since this is my first time, vote for whichever candidate I think will be best overall. I vote for KUCINICH BABY!!!!!! That would be cool if he is the Democratic candidate though

What?! I'm conservative-leaning, but I certainly support education, the environment, and charitable donations.... I do NOT understand your logic here at all.
