Stay or Leave Tuning

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Stay or Leave Tuning

Unread post by JohnLSmith » Sat Jan 10, 2004 5:55 pm

Friends,

Ok. The Floodzone brought this up just a few posts ago but I think this needs a bit more dissucion.

Raised B tuning. From the way I understand it if you tried to go to raised b you would snap your normal strings from the tension. Right?

I just downloaded the Today’s show performance and Dave's guitar just has wound strings on the low E and A the rest seem to be plain steel.

This brought to mind something I read about few months ago, Nashville Tuning.

It seems some players in Nashville use just the high octave pairs from a twelve string set on their Telecasters to get an unusually high and twangy sound for county. These strings have the ability to with stand higher amounts of tension.

Could this be the way to bring your tuning to Raised B?

If anyone has experimented with this I am sure we would love to hear your thoughts. Or, if there were away to get to Raised B with a normal set (besides with a Capo) would you mind discussing it?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Practice Hard.

John

eh. it's easier/more convienent for people to ask than look. i don't hold it against 'em...i'm that way too. ;) but i do understand the frustration, though. a lot of the same questions that are brought were probably answered a few days earlier.
