Trippin' Billies - Storytellers

Unread post by Easy E » Thu Jan 30, 2003 5:31 pm

I couldn't help noticing that right before Trippin' Billies on StoryTellers Dave tunes his E string down. I know it doesn't sound right in Drop-D so i'm confused. Can anybody help me out here?

he plays it in standard, so maybe you're just seeing him tune up after he played Crush. I don't remember the order of the songs he played but I know that he didn't play Billies in drop D.

hope that helps ya
good, and you?

It was right after Satellite and it definitely sounds like a tune down from wherever it was.

Not every song he played got aired, so if he did indeed tune down to D, it was probably for a song that was cut from the broadcast. But if you mean he's tuning down to D while he's telling the story about the song, and there's obviously no cut, then you are wrong and he didnt tune down to D.

Ok I watched the video just now, he doesnt tune down to drop D. All he did was make a slight adjustment.

Yeah that video threw me waaaay off at first too until I downloaded the entire glorious concert from Storytellers. Since VH1 obviously just cut and pasted whatever they wanted to air for the concert then it looks like he's playing drop D for Tripping Billies.

Here's watchacutally happened...

The first story he gave us after Satellite, the San Fran hotel, actually was told between The Stone and Crush. So while he's telling the story he really is tuning to drop D for Crush though they don't air Crush until AFTER Tripping Billies.

They really should have aired more songs...

He played The Stone on Storytellers? I didn't know that. so after the hotel story, did he then go to talk about Crush and the worship or women and that stuff, before starting the song?
good, and you?

I have a 3 cd set of it. It's cool, i love too much, say goodbye, lie in our graves, and the stone from that show.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.
