Yes i think they are illegal , yet there is alot of them out there ;)
They're not illegal, just against the band's taping policies.

hmmm, thats wierd. dave definately has a mic clipped to his shirt (and i've seen it on a few concerts) but no one else does. so if you can just talk and the earpice picks it up, whats with Dave's mic?

maybe if you knew the band, they'd let you put your IEM onto their system!

Dave's mic on his shirt isn't for the IEM, it's for soundboard levels, i believe, incase it goes a bit high or low, the mic is closer to his mouth. Yes, the IEM picks up the audio from his ear, as if he were hearing it..

the deal with the IEM's are there is a switch on stage for each member of the band to activate the mic. Then they talk to each other and hear each other through the ear piece. Dave's switch is back by Carter, so that's why he is always going back there after songs.

yeah, i remember listening to an IEM where someones mic isn't on and someone from backstage is telling them how to put it on. Kinda funny.

I know your kidding... but this couldnt work because IEM's usually are on channels so it would be hard to find the right channel. The way people get these recordings are by tapping into these channels (probably using a scanner of somesort) recording them.
Look up, look down, look all around.
