old dave or new?

Unread post by Twostep13 » Thu Jan 08, 2004 12:10 am

Which dave do you like best? the old dave or the new... this includes songs, guitars and such not just him being a lot thinner back then lol

i like the old daver better, his songs were better IMO because they melodies he played were crazy...like recently, WWYS, others and you could hear everything he played so well.....also his lyrics i think were much cooler, thye were like he was telling stories about so far off magical place, like in tripping billies, and i love the chet akins sst he plays, the thin body ebony with the stars, thats my next major purchase....

what does everyone else think?

Most all people are gonna say old, I might not have been there from the start but I didnt come in last year either and I feel the older stuff is better. But thats not to say I dont like his new stuff and Im also eagerly anticipating anything new from him or the band.

I like it all. I can't say there has been a DMB cd I have not fully enjoyed. They are all a little bit different from one another.

I am very partial to Busted Stuff, however.

It is hard to decide I like is old stuff alot, but the new stuff is also good. I think that some of the newer stuff is also great. It also depends on where you draw the line for old and new. I guess if I was told that I could only ever have 1 studio album of DMB I would go with Crash becasue of Two Step, #41, SMTS and others. So I guess if forced to pick I would pick the old. Good thing I can enjoy it all.

I've always thought that BTCS was a real turning point for the band. They ditched their old songs, and brought in a whole lot of new cultural sounds. The Last Stop is a perfect example of DMB's evolution into a new sound, from the typcial 5 guys in a band jamming sound. I like DMB with the exception of over produced electric stuff.

i don't think so. i think dave has kinda reverted at least a little back to his hippie-ism with dave and friends. he rarely picked up that electric during the 03 tour... and his weapon of choice for d/f is the acoustic. it kinda sucks that i'll never see dmb play in pajamas with the chet, but i trust that dave won't allow the fan base that got him wear he is to turn their backs on him.

me either crash, some devil cd is so so if your in a driving, depressed mood(seriously) but stuff liek sweet up and down and some of the covers have been cool to hear, not a huge fan though, i love the old stuff hate most of the new stuff...everyday and on. they need to start taking drugs again, dave needs the chet and a weight loss, carter needs a hockey jersey, stefen needs hair, boyd needs to stick with the violin and stray from his solo dream, and leroi just needs to be leroi with sunglasses, they need to get back into things and create a new #34 or a great jam song liek 41 or wwys or just about any song up until 98'....nuff said i liek the old, the need to stop this midlife crisis stuff and get stoned and lay music, keep it up dmb!! ..peace

Did you go to a concert, I thought it was the most amazing show Ive ever seen, really enjoyed it. But I admit, I listened to the Penn State show (which I heard was a bad show compared to the one I went too) before going to the Rochester show and didnt get into it all that much. But live it was just ridiculous.
