Dave's 914ce

Unread post by crazyhorse » Tue Dec 11, 2007 8:13 pm

If you look at Dave's 914 ce at the top of the neck, the designs are different than a custom guitar you would find at a store. Did Dave have this custom done? If you are unsure of what I am talking about, go to a music store website and search a 914 then look at Dave's. This has always just been on my mind i'm curious to know.

Taylor used to offer different inlays for all 914's up to about 2002, I believe. The year might be wrong but Dave's isn't personally customized. You will also notice that one of the 914s has a slightly different cutaway as well. The soundholes are starting to get beat up as well.

I noticed that too. One has a sharp point on the cutaway and one is rounded. Anyone know why? Just a different year or something?

Taylor has two types of cutaways, the venetian (rounded, soft cut), and the florentine (sharp, pointed cut). On everything from the 500 series and up, you can order either cut that you want, but the florentine is an upcharge because it takes more work.
