Guitarist on Conan....

Unread post by Johnnyguitar » Wed Jan 07, 2004 7:26 am

Did anyone else see that girl on Conan O' Brien last night? I wish I could remember her name, Casy something...I think...anyway she was awesome and I want to study her unusual technique for playing- :o Well I have no idea what it's called but her fret hand was hanging over the guitar instead of under and her right hand was tapping and sliding the notes at the frets. The result is an astounding number of notes played.

I have only seen this technique once before, by a great guitarist named Justin King who plays in Eugene, OR every week in a little coffeehouse (anyone else seen him?). He is well respected around the Northwest.

Anyways, I'm very interested in learning this technique and was wondering if anyone else has studied it or knows of any books, videos, sites, anything at all where I can get started. Thanks.

The episode he's talking about is a re-run, I'm pretty sure. Kaki King was on Conan a few months ago. There was a thread about it.

And yeah, she's awesome.
