My teacher showed me a good exercise that is helping me, slowly, but helping. Do the same 1234 exercise, however, don't pickup the fingers at all. Keep them down until you need too raise them! Hope thats what you were trying to do, lol... Oh yeah the slower at first the better, one of the hardest things to do is slow it down!

i also found that forcing myself to use the pinky where i normally would use the ring finger helps tremendously
I tried that, it's damn easy for me to do.. granted i'm not a beginer.. It is definetly a good tip though..
