candy man fun

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

you just goota go half speed I guess. I always slow things down when I learn them. You have to use whatever finger your not useing and just kinda use it to mute. I play with what I call lazy fingers. I just lay all my fingers down when I play a chord so all but the strings I am play are muted. practice basically.

mmmhmmm

if you watch closley on crash, he always has his middle finger on that low e when hes not using it
that makes that song kinda trickey

and when he does those root and octaves, he has his hand kinda flat, muting all the othre strings

yeah, practice really does help. You should use a metronome though. It makes it a lot easier.

guys, he doesn't mute that much. He barely plays the full guitar when he isn't doing an open chord a a barre chord.

Also, for the low E on crash, he just does't hit the string until it is fretted or open. Watch his picking/strumming hand, and you can see he doesn't hit that string.

Fatjack, back me up please, lol.

Dave does mute, but only half of what you guys are making it out to be.

I'm tired, lol.

Exactly what Ranting said , he doesn't really mute on Crash , he picks out the bass notes thats all :) The reason he is leaning his middle finger against the low E is probably just in case of a miss hit , then it will be muted , i do the same thing

actualy, you can see dave's finger just sticks up in the air, not even touches the string. Also, keeping it upen all the time while strumming, sounds fine, since the high e is open and the not on the b string is also E.

Also, for songs like stay, he barely touches the strings that aren't fretted. He only hits them by accedent, If you look, your ring and pinky fingers mute the a and b because they are just there touching it naturaly because of the way you shape the chord, and so if by accident you hit them, they are muted, almost like an accidental comfort zone.
