perhaps if you changed the tempo right before the change. like, slow the 4/4 down a lot or speed it up a lot. i don't think it's a problem w/ the change cause people do that all the time, it's that the tempos throw you off. like you're sort of bouncing your head to the song and the next thing you know, you look like the guy following the song that has no rhythm. i'd say just try slowing or speeding the 4/4 to closer match the tempo of the 6/8. plus if done slowly enough, could make for a great build back into the 6/8. just a suggestion.captainburrito wrote:I totally agree that the transition is awkward...I have been looking for a way to get back into the 6/8 part a little more smoothly but with no luck. The more we play the song, though, the more I kind of like the awkward transitions, but that is probably just me subconsciously throwing in the towel, which is totally lame. Vocal harmonies are in the works for the first part...
Thanks to everyone for such great comments. I'll pass them on down to the real talent in our group. Have a great day!

Wow, I thought that was fantastic, such a great song, that's something I could listen to over and over again and never get sick of. Only a couple things, I definitely agree with Mitch about maybe slowing the 4/4 part down to make for a smoother transition back into the 6/8. Also, and this might just be me, but maybe some kind of violin break before the 4/4, to kinda break up the vocals a little, there's a lot of lyrics goin' on in that song, not that that's a bad thing, but maybe to give it a little more diversity. Other than those very minute things, I thought it was great. Loved the intertwined vocals at the end. When you get around to recording this, definitely throw some violin in with those vocals at the end, I can hear it already, that'd make for such cool intensity.

Thanks a lot, man! It really means a lot that we can impact someone's day like that. But you stumbled upon the real reason why we write songs...to put people who wear sweatpants in compromising situations.jrbleiguy wrote:just watched your original. i was kind of down today for some reason.. just watching you two put a smile on my face. perfect duo.
cover was good, but your original is what gave me a music inspired boner.
