What does the sound tell you ? Does it sound ok to you ? Either way you should learn it the right way for a more original sound

Intro
Dave uses his 2nd finger mute during the last slide
E:------5-----------------
B:------5-----------------
G:------5---4\6-----------
D:---------------7--------
A:------------------------
E:-3\5--------------0-8\--
(2) 4 (1) 2 3
The 4/6 is done in one pluck of the "G" string(called a slide) and then it sets up your middle finger to nail the "D" string on the 7th fret. I found that it really helps to use the numbered fingerings below the tab cause there really is a method to Dave's maddness, you just have to figure it out. All that talk about the 5 to 4 stuff i don't know what your talking about. But if you want to play the song the way dave does then then just focus on the tab and the fingerings and just listen and play the song over and over, you'll get it. Good luck man.

Hey dmfollower , when you're posting tab , do it in the code function so it lines up perfectly like so :
[/code]

Code: Select all

It took me a while to understand what was going on in this song. I just had problems seeing what was posted in order to play it, and hearing how the song actually pans out....
anyways..I think usugae of the pinkie in this song is completely unnecessary. Once I learned this, fingers 1,2 and 3 are all i needed to play this intro/verse part...and it flows so well with just those three. I'm abel to nail the 4/6 slide well, but it has to do with how i set it up.
I start the first slide using my 2nd finger, then for the 555 hit on the lower strings, I use the lower portion of the 2nd finger. After that, your first finger is right at the 4th fret, and you can get the next couple notes no prob as well as mute with the lower portion of your 1st finger.
Don't know if that helps, but it's the smoothest way I've learned how to play it.
