I just got this today, and watched about half of it. I'm enjoying it so far.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I don't feel like going through 29 pages. What the hell does Dave have written on his left hand?

it's something like "pre con. personality." It was probably to remind him to talk about the John Town thing (U.S. soldier in Iraq, gov't won't pay him because of "pre-existing" personality disorder)

There's a lot of times, especially when there hasn't been much new DM material out, where I'll feel like I've lost that spark that an obsessive fan has about a band. I'll discover new music and grow small fascinations with other artists or styles of music. Even when I heard about RCMH, I wasn't hopping out of my seat to preorder it. It even took me several days after its release to buy it. But once the DVD started and Bartender started playing, it took me back, just like it does many times when I hear some new DM, to my old self that is totally obsessed with this music. Nothing else makes me feel like a little kid like this music. I find myself laughing hysterically at only things that a hardcore fan would find funny and rewinding countless parts of the DVD to repeat the little nuances that we, as fans, can only notice. Nothing else gives me this kind of feeling, I love this music, it's magic to me.

I loved the DVD, you can clearly hear all of Tim's fills, he sounds great in this. I was pretty happy with the set, there's a couple songs that I would love to see in DVD quality that were missing, but all in all, it was a solid set for me. Seeing people trying to dance/air guitar is always fun. I always loved listening to the really crazy end jams in songs like Crush and Nancies, it was cool to finally see it. The piano was nice to see, the shots where you see Dave sitting at a piano on one side and Tim sitting with his guitar on the other were really nice, we've never seen that. Very cool. Can't wait to see what else the bluray version will have!

IMToo has a DVD Audio Ripper. I've ripped the Central Park DVD to 320kpbs MP3s from it. I don't know if newer versions do lossless (which I would rebuy if they did).

I bought the CD/DVD set and I think I'mma go back and buy the BluRay Discs if the DVDs turn out to be what I hope they do (STILL haven't gotten them! Fucking MusicToday/USPS assbanging fuckburgers).
Sloganizer removed to prevent Slimer from suffering from further vaginal chafing.

Here is the very short description:

BluRay disk will win the format war.

BluRay discs are the next generation of DVD. Kinda like the transition from VHS to DVD. BluRay is the future. In 4 or 5 years we'll all be making fun of DVD just like people make fun of VHS tapes. Eventually you will walk into Blockbuster or Hollywood video and only see BluRay.

When a movie is shot in HD they have to compress it to fit on a DVD, therefore, losing sound and video quality. 1 BluRay disk can hold 25 gigs as to a DVD disk only holding 4.7 gigs (single layer disk). Huge difference. I guess its like watching HD tv. For example, on the RCMH disc, with bluray, you'll probably be able to see the pores on Daves face and the back of the stage will be very crystal clear, as if it was the foreground. Im sure more people can explain it better.

You have to have a BluRay player which are pretty expensive right now, but they will go down in price just like the DVD player did, or any technology for that matter. Your dvds will play on the BluRay player unlike when the conversion of VHS to DVD took place.

here is alot more detail:

BluRay is no different than HD-DVD ... It's all bullshit marketing battling.

I have both and they both look and sound great which to me is about 95% of what matters. The other 5% is the additional capacity for extras. HD-DVD's space has more than enough for what most High Definition DVDs are going to include.

I just don't want people to think that one is better than the other just because some marketing donkey says so in a press release.

Yeah, they are both the same I would think (just like VHS and BetaMax was). It's not a marketing battle saying one is better quality than the other, they are two different companies with two different "versions" of HD quality discs. The problem for HD-DVD is that its losing, because I think 7 out of the 8 top movie studios are signed with BluRay. Also, in 2006, Vivid, the largest porn distribution choose to sell in BluRay first and "maybe" sell in HD-DVD later (thats what all the articles say). Porn is a major factor why BetaMax lost to VHS. Same quality, just different format.
