slide guitar basics

slide guitar basics
can anyone give me tips on just basic slide guitar...i am using an acoustic guitar with a metal slide.

Keep the slide on either ring or pinky finger.
Keep very light pressure with the slide (you don't want to apply pressure as to lower the string).
You'll want to be right above the fret to hit the note.
Use vibrato.
Use your earlier fingers on the string (I'm not sure where I heard this, but it makes a cleaner sound).

Also, if you're just starting, its fun to tune to something like DADF#AD. Remember to go down to those notes and not up.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?
