fire and rain

kidding, but the idea to play originals is really the best - a friend of mine is an amazing piano player, he writes out some chords for me, and he goes crazy - try that - or for a dave song WWYS, you can have a lot of fun with it

chill dooder. I never said that I am an expert song writer. I have originals. Just i know I would much rather see a band with some orignal material rather then 3 hours of covers, because i see no talent in reproducing another person's music. Just trying to help. Gee wizz.

It depends on HOW good they cover the other person's material, if they are just a dime'a dozen, then it's a pointless idea to cover others music

But look you've got probably 50 covers hear to choose from, how are you going to get through all those and still have the endurance to write originals. All I was saying is that I find a band more interesting when they play less covers. That was my only point.

wait wait wait

do you have any originals?

yes, i mean, granted, it can be pretty easy and boring if you play it exactly the way the original artist does it, but look what dave did with watchtower... jsut make it fun and interesting

and im not saying playing songs note for note dosent take talent, but there are other ways of expressing talent

peace kev

Right on right on, but I've seen to many Dave wannabe's playing his songs note for note, strum for strum, word for word, tone for tone, etc. I am just tryin to keep people from falling into a rut.

Peace.

today's the day. i don't know what we're going to play..I think a rendition of Solsbury Hill would be cool..damn that song is great.

I'm thinking Purple Haze, maybe Over the Hills and Far Away (Zeppelin)...Hey Ya would be hilarious...I don't know.
