#41 question

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

[quote="paywad927"]when do you play the verse as opposed to the intro. i cant hear much of a difference when i listen to the song.

You start playing the verse when dave starts singing, "Come see, I swear by now....etc." You should listen to a live acoustic version of the song i.e. Live At Luther College. Then, when the band starts jamming is when you go back to strumin' the verse, its not picked like the intro. Hope this helps.

i dont really understand how #41 is played, during the intro it sounds like hes using a bunch of different pulloffs/hammerons, the way its tabbed doesnt seem right to me, anyone wanna help out?

The tab is right and there's a hammer-on in there on one of the intro chords so that's what you're hearing. What specific problem do you have with how its played? heres how it goes:

1. Intro chords

2. Verse (when the lyrics start)

3. Chorus...

4. back to Verse

5. Chorus....

6. The Jam which is the Intro chords, except on L@LC I think he plays 2 bars of the Verse and then continues with the Intro chords as Tim solos.

7. The ending chords.

hope that helps fix your confusion

peace
good, and you?

the way its tabbed is right, but theres a much easier way to play it, that sounds almost as good, and it is a good way to learn the song for starters, and then once you get the rythm down, you can move up to what dave plays

the intro goes like this
E----x--------x--------x-------x---x-------
B----3--------3--------3-------3---3-------
G----5--------0--------0-------0---0h4----
D----5--------4-----2-2--------4---0-------
A--0-0-----2-2--------x-----5-5---5-------
E--------------------------------------------

these are just the basic chords used but they sound better if fingerpicked
#41 is much easier to learn this way and eases you into learning the big stretch chords dave uses
