I know he used his black Gibson at the first albums. Does anyone know what he uses for the latest albums?

You talking about the chet? Doubtful, that guitar sounds like ass mic'd. My guess would be he used his lakewood quite a bit early on and now uses his signature martin.

Just a guess though.

That would make more sense. He also had that giant ass yamaha that he used to play quite a bit too.

I'm pretty confident Dave used the Taylor on BS and Stand Up (aside from the different tuning songs). He used the Martin on Some Devil and used the Jerry Jones Baritone on most of Everyday. Before that I'm pretty sure he was straight lakewood..he played the lakewood at D+T shows all the way up to 99 when he switched to the Martin.

interesting how the guitar tone just got worse and worse after the lakewood left. I still maintain that the Lakewood is his best sounding guitar hands down.

Personally, I think his DMD3D (is that it?) Is easily his best sounding guitar. So is the HD28V...Martin's have a perfect balance of treble and bass that suits acoustic settings so nicely. I suppose the Taylor sounds good with the full band..but I still prefer Dave's sound in LS when he used the HD28V.

Didn't he use the DMD3D on LS?

He might have...either way I still think I dug the Martin sound more.

I disagree...I own a 28V, DM3MD, and a Gibson Chet SST...the Chet was damn good sounding in the studio, albeit tricky to mic, but sure as hell sounded great. If the mic placements are correct, you can easily create the sound you want. I could send you a copy of the tracks and you wouldn't even be able to decipher between the three. If you need help with mic'ing the Chet, let me know, I can tell you exactly what my engineer did.
