Changing Dave for the better

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Changing Dave for the better

Unread post by Pickles » Tue Dec 23, 2003 6:54 pm

before i was just learning dave as a dave copy... someone who played it just as dave... but now that ive been learning more about the fretboard and theory and stuff ive realized i can make dave better certain ways... if even very easy..

how many of you have done the same thing?

I work really hard on making the singing my own, but I still want to learn what dave does and be able to nail it before I start messing around with the guitar parts too much. I hear what you're saying, though. It is really satisfying to make a song your own (i.e., How many of you think of Bob Dylan when you think of All Along the Watchtower??).

Cheers

I always try to play as Dave, before changing something...
I have learnt very much imitating his style and I still have to learn!!!!
I'll try to change when I'll correctly play his songs and I'll have no problems...

No way. AATW is the only song where the covers are better than the original...

I think his cover of Cortez the Killer at the NYC CP concert is pretty damn killer. I finally watched my DVD, it was a killer show. There were people like, miles away from the stage. Crazy.
