Video for new song on YouTube! (new video added)

Unread post by captainburrito » Thu Jul 05, 2007 5:57 pm

Hey kids! My friend and I have been writing some new songs this summer and we decided to do a cliche YouTube recording of us playing one of the songs. It is called "Still." For some reason the bass in the recording ended up sounding really weird, so if you can get past that, the obviously Dave inspired chords, and the late night giddiness...i don't think it is terrible. Here it is:

Let me know what you think if you get the chance.

Edit: Hey, my friend and I also did a recording of "Nine Crimes" if anyone wants to watch it. It is a little long, but I think it is worth it to stay until the end.

That is such a huge compliment, sir! That alone makes it worthwhile to keep making music. We have a blast writing and playing music, but when people other than our friends and family, who are forced to say they like us, throw around compliments like that in a forum where it is easy to to be brutally honest...it means a lot. You, my friend, made our night!

well good. i'm glad. i do have two quick critiques that i didn't throw in earlier. the transition back to 6/8 left the song a little confused sounding, but just for a sec. not the greatest of transitions. the only other critique would be try to write some vocal harmonies during the first half. just a couple would be perfect.

the end of the song gives me goosebumps. perfect. absolutely perfect.

I totally agree that the transition is awkward...I have been looking for a way to get back into the 6/8 part a little more smoothly but with no luck. The more we play the song, though, the more I kind of like the awkward transitions, but that is probably just me subconsciously throwing in the towel, which is totally lame. Vocal harmonies are in the works for the first part...

Thanks to everyone for such great comments. I'll pass them on down to the real talent in our group. Have a great day!
