Best Dave song to play live
So in a week or so i'm playing in a talent show (i'm a highschooler) and I want to play a Dave tune. What are your guys favorites to play live? Suggestions? I want to play something that is:
A) Fun to play
B) Sounds good (Even to someone who has never heard Dave before) and
C) the ladies will enjoy
D) will get the crowed into it (a somewhat exciting song to listen to)
Help? At this point I think I might play Crush but I'm not sure.

well, if you're playing a song by yourself, i would pick one with a solid, catchy rhythm, and a guitar part that sounds good+full with no accompaniment. IMO when the world ends would be really good, that sounds great on solo acoustic, the rhythm is pretty poppy/catchy, and it's popular enough that most people will have at least heard it a few times.

Grey St. for the ladies. And eventually Tripping Billies. I think that has the most acoustic tone. (Especially with new strings). Plus it is considered the "anthem" of dmb.
One of my favorite songs is Up and Away. I think Im going to learn it tonight just cause it sounds fun to play. Plus the singing and lyrics are really nice.

This is how I learned. Its singe notes instead of the two fingers spread out. But it still sounds good.

I can play it, it's just I don't have tons of confidence singing an playing it.

i don't know why people have troubles singing/playing tripping billies at the same time. the guitar part follows the vocals fairly closely in the verse. but nevertheless, i think liog would but a fun one. I wouldn't do the long jam very long just because it would be kind of boring with no other instruments soloing.
two step is my favorite song to play, and the whole "my love you came to me with best intentions, you lay down and give to me just what i'm seeking" could get the slutty high school girls going for sure. haha
