you're not going to find a site with videos of the songs like this one, but this site has the best (and for the most part, the only) john mayer tabs out there. my advice towards learning them would be to download videos from kazaa, you can download videos of the vast majority of his songs from there.

Holy sh*t some of his stuff is hard. I love that song neon and decided I wanted to learn it. Then I saw the tabs for it....whew! This one is gonna take a while.

There is no doubt about it. Mayer is an insanely good guitarist... my only beef with him is his cliche music and the fact that he sold out got an electrric guitar and brought a band in... which sounds tremendously worse then he did solo.

I see what you're saying. I like his solo acoustic versions of his songs way better than the Room For Squares ones but it is still a good album. The songs are great and I don't understand what you mean my cliche music, but I do think his acoustic album Inside Wants Out, is sweet. I love that song Victoria, and Neon is way better acoustic. I even like Your Body is a Wonderland when played acoustic.

anyway, its good stuff and I'm anxious to see what his next album is gonna be like.

peace

gotta love victoria
what a great song
except the chorus
the chorus is kinda bland
just timed chord changes with a d,d,d strumming pattern
kind of takes away from the song, but i love the intro/verse and pre chorus
Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

I've tried before, but failed. Then a tried again and it was better but I failed. Yes its a great song, but I just don't have the quick fingers for it, and its tough to get used to his flat palm style with the thumb wrapped around to fret the E string. I like playing Love Soon, Why Georgia, Your body..., My Stupid Mouth, Victoria, and Not Myself. they're all fun to play.

good luck with Neon.

they have two different styles so I can't put one above the other. I enjoy both in different ways. I guess you can John is a better lead guitarist, but he's a great rhythm player as well. Dave is a better melodic rhythm player, and may be more creative in that sense. Lyrically, Dave kicks John's ass bigtime. The Stone is easier to play than Neon, although it will probably take quite a bit longer to learn the stone than Neon. make sense? :?

come to think of it, they're probably about equal. both use very different fingerings but both are rhythmically challenging. To answer your earlier question, its not necessary to learn The Stone first to be able to learn Neon because they're quite different.

he fingerpicks the song. he slaps the bass notes with his thumb and picks the other strings with his index and middle finger and possible ring fingers. It's quite a cool technique
