There are a ton of options now in that price range so the best bet is to get your hands on as many as possible before you decide to buy. I can tell you I have been playing a Washburn EA20B festival series guitar for almost 16 years now and the thing has been a tank. The action has always been beautiful, and the tone gets better and better with age. Its an Acoustic electric cutaway auditorium size guitar.

They are actually quite affordable from a number of price ranges. The one I own is american made so I cannot attest to the quality of anything made out of the US. But washburn makes a nice acoustic. This one actually needs new frets now, and is starting to show a lot of wear between the common frets, but I would never part with her, she is staying with me forever.

I am looking into an auditorium acoust / elec Martin, but I will always play my washburn.

dude get the washburn you will not be let down. i absolutley love my washburn, they are known for coming right from the factory with tight set-ups too, great action, great sound.

i love mine so much instead of upgrading i put a LR baggs M1 active pickup in it and it sounds fantastic

Even though i would never go back to a guitar in that range now that i have my taylor, if i had to i would go with a takamine over the washburn hands down. Your best bet - play both and see which one YOU like better. (after all, your the one paying for it and playing it)

How much is a 314ce? I love those guitars. I go to guitar center and play the 714ce they have there. I think its funny because i new sales guy came up to me and said "I have to remind you, if you break it you buy it"

I didn't even look at him i just kept playing.

Which is all that matters...truly. I have owned four ibanez in my life and found them to be great, inexpensive, and playable guitars.
