Check out my DMB covers (Grey Street etc...)

I recorded these songs and I want to get an honest opinion of what people think. I was thinking about trying to go out and play some local coffee shops, but I don't want to get laughed out of the place! Please give me some honest feedback of what you think. Thanks!

im at work so i cant listen to your covers too loud, but from what i can hear they sound good. i listened to grey street and wonderland. the guitar sounds great in grey street, almost identical to the tone dave achieves. the guitar in wonderland sounds good too, but the slapping sounds a little bassy. also, a few fills like mayer does would sound great in the beginning of the song, and certain parts of the verse.

im not much of a singer, so i really cant critique well. sounds good to me though.

Ok i just heard a little bit of the songs each , didn't want to go through the whole deal right now :)

Crash Into Me , very nice .
Long Black Veil , the way you extend the voice is great , i really liked that.
Grey Street , simply nice , in the chorus though at 3:45 you forgot the chord change .
Typical Situation , your voice is very cool on this one .
Christmas Song , sounds like you lose a little rhythm sometimes so it goes too fast , but all in all good .
Where Are You Going , sounds good , but its still like you hesitate a strum here and there .
Angel From Montgomery , was nice with the harmonies :)

All in all very nice songs and well played / sung , you should be playing at bars and coffee shops :)

just got done listening to crash, #40, and grey street. i'd definitely come see you at a coffee joint, no doubt about it. i've been thinking about doing the same thing, just haven't gotten around to it yet. you might just be my inspiration to do it! haha...good luck with your gigs, let me know how you make out!

hey chris...just wanted to welcome you to the site. I've seen you post on Ants and it's about time you made your way over here! The boards here are pretty unique in the fact that you will get honest opinions on almost anything you post. We're a guitar forum first, with a major in Dave Matthews........then after all that guitar stuff is done, it's a DMB board.

As opposed to Ants where you will find it to be DMB CRAZY and people don't focus as much on the music(even in the musicians section).

Stay a while, enjoy the times here.....we're really all just guitar nuts here who all have one(initial) thing in common: our love of DMB music

welcome

Nice job on Grey Street Chris. Sounds good. Sounds like you've played this song a bit - which brings me to my next question. I am trying to learn this song right now myself and was wondering what finger pattern do you use for the main verse? I have seen it done many ways and just wanted to get your input. Thanks!

this is kinda an old tab, but just outa curiosity do you by chance have the tab for that sweet solo thing you put in "typical situation" or the strumming part during the verse. that would be awesome..sounds good buddy.

The solo parts in typical situation were just improvised by a friend of mine. All of these songs were recorded live in a friends studio. I don't think he got the solos from a tab, he just made them up. As for the strumming in the chorus I just played the open chords G F Am C D.
