#27 Tab Help

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

#27 Tab Help

Unread post by DMBZeppelin » Sun Jul 29, 2007 9:41 pm

Well Dave and Tim performed a new song called #27 on 7.28.07

I was wondering if anyone could help with a tab from these videos. I keep trying to figure it out. I have two links to two different videos below:

From the left side of the stage: (Full Song. Better for seeing the chord shapes)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9GJJLY47

From the right side of the stage: (This is only about the first 2 minutes, but you can see what strings Dave is plucking better) http://www.sendspace.com/file/n7l4iq

Also here's my take on the lyrics:

#27
I've been high, and I've been down
My head in the clouds, and my hands in the ground
In the arms of a woman, I found my way home
In the arms of a woman, I had been lost

And, I'm so lost that this losing feel like dying
I hope you'll be by me then
Well, I'm so lost that this losing feel like dying
I hope you'll be by me then

As a young man, I was afraid
Of my life, what would I make?
I would make love, what will I hate?
What bittersweet road will I take to my grave?

And, If I'm old 'til this oldness has me dying
I hope you'll be by me then
Oh, when I'm old 'til this oldness has me dying
I hope you'll be by me then
(I hope you'll be by me then)

Sick of you, and I'm sick of me
I'm sick of wars, and I'm sick of peace
I'm sick of sound 'til I'm sick of silence
Oh, sick of the darkness 'til I'm sick of the light

Well, I'm so sick that this sickness has me dying
I hope you'll be by me then
(I hope you'll be by me then)
Oh, and I'm so sick that this sickness have me dying
I hope you'll be by me then

Once, as a boy, I saw what happened
I saw them beat him down to the cold, cold ground
Watch those big boys beat that man down
I was too weak to make a stand

Well, I'm so weak that this weakness feels like dying
I hope you'll be by me then
Well, I'm so weak that this weakness feels like dying
I hope you'll be by me then

When I'm old 'til this oldness feels like dying
I hope you'll be by me then

So I will live as I see fit
There will be those who will not like it
But in the arms of a woman, I found my way home
So to the arms of a woman, I will go

And if I'm old 'til this oldness has me dying
I hope you'll be by me then

I updated the first post with the 2nd video. I'm still trying to figure out a tab. If anyone else wants to try you have the resources now.

Here's what I got using the video (thanks for the video by the way). I only tabbed out Dave's parts, but if anybody wants Tim's slide parts I can try to tab those out too.

*Tim is on slide throughout the song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqcuGFM1mkA Here's a video of #27 with the full band. I can't tell if Dave plays the same thing or not. I think he's strumming though.

It sounds and looks like Dave is playing the same thing as he did in the Hamptons (same thing I have tabbed out). The intro is just a little different, though. That will probably change with each performance (be kind of an improv thing he does, like the intro to Hello Again).

Wouldn't know if old Dave, but more distant from some of that SU shit we most hated.

The full band sounded better than the D&T one, I didn't like Dave on the electric.

Could you possibly post a video of Tim's chorus part?

Wouldn't a TAB for Man Of Constant Sorrow do just fine, just played slower?

i've always thought that too
Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. I think, "It is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.
