Crush (standard tuning) question

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Crush (standard tuning) question

Unread post by mlee » Wed Mar 10, 2004 8:18 pm

Hi there, here is the verse as posted on this site:

Verse
Chord with X under it is one you end on when transitioning to "It's Crazy..."
E:-----------------------------
B:-3----3----3----2------------
G:-x----0----2----2----4----5-- <---4on last5&5
D:-4----4----------------------
A:-2----2----x----x----x----x--
E:------------0----0----1----3-- <---1

My question is, and this isn't the first time I've wondered this...but for the second and third chords on the verse, if you're strumming it how do you not hit the D string? What do you do in this instance? Sorry if seems like a simple question, but I'm a self taught player never really new how to strum those type of chords. Usually I'd just play the string in question as an open string. (In this case, the D string)

Thanks in advance,
Matt

EDIT: I'm not sure how that smiley got there????

Either way, mute or open. Depends on your preference.

I personally just mute it.

why dont you just take the half second to tune to drop-D, maybe Im just crazy but that seems like the most logical way
