Newbie wants to strut his stuff....

or lack thereof.... just wondering if you guys have some advice on what to use to record mp3s...my comp has a pretty shitty sound card and its old. so im at a loss there. also i have no money to buy expensive equipment/software. I do however have a digital video camera. is it possible to record the sound there then convert just the audio to MP3? thanks for your help!
