Fire and Rain

Unread post by GreedylilPig » Tue Feb 17, 2004 11:01 pm

James Taylor is no doubt one of my favorite musicians so I thought I'd cover one of his most popular songs and post it here. I've posted "Sweet Baby James" and another tune called "Wandering" in the past, and considering my most recent recordings, I suppose it appears that I've mistaken this for a James Taylor/Paul Simon forum. :) Sorry about that; I'll be sure to factor in some variation in the future. I hope you like.

Fire and Rain (James Taylor)

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susan the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
Just can't remember who to send it to
I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again
Won't you look down upon me Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way
I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again
Been walking my mind to an easy time
My back turned toward the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
But there's hours of time on the telephone line
To talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground
Ooh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again
Thought I'd see you one more time again
Thought I'd see you
Thought I'd see you
Fire and rain

That was great man! You have the perfect voice to do JT songs.

I can't remember but have you done Carolina in My Mind. I love that song.

One of my favorites as well. I do play that song but haven't posted it. Next time I sit down in my studio I'll be sure to try that one out. Thanks for your interest.

Thanks, NPR (what's your name, btw?). I haven't posted Carolina in My Mind, either, but I do play it. I'll try recording that one in the future as well. Great tune. Thanks again.

Nice cover, it is one of my favorite songs. I don't know if I liked the slower tempo, but it was still technically solid

Thanks, man. Ya know, I always see you take some time out to comment on my recordings so I've been keeping an eye out for something of your own, but I haven't seen anything. Have you posted any songs? If so, I'd like to give them a listen.
