I've posted several songs before of just me and my acoustic so here is something totally different: a song from the band I occasionally play in. I'm on lead guitar. Any and all comments/suggestions are welcome. The vocalist would especially like comments. Thanks in advance.
The song is called Say a Prayer For Francis. I didn't write it (the lead singer did) and says it was inspired by Gary Sinise's role in Forrest Gump (Lt. Dan) and the prayer of St. Francis. We hope you like.
Say a Prayer For Francis
* * *
Too many whiskey mornings
Too many whiskey nights
Sooner or later you're not sure if you're sober or high
Got a friend named Francis
Got caught up in the scene
Low down and broken-hearted from
Too many lost dreams
Took too many hard blows
He's ready to take the low road
With vagabonds and losers
And that old ancient code
He's gonna head down to Florida
Where dreams go when they all gone south
Where salty tears blend into the air
And turn into rain clouds
Say a prayer for Francis
And all of his lost dreams
Say a prayer for Francis
That he may find his peace
Some people dream way too hard
Some people don't dream hard enough
Some people try way too hard to find a diamond in the rough
On the streets of Miami
He partied until dawn
when all he ever wanted was
To do some good before he passed on
But fast women and whiskey
And all the sailor schemes
Took him over the edge one night
And so he took it to the sea
On and on he sailed
Into the eye of a hurricane
Making peace with his maker
Or maybe just going insane
Caught in the thunder and lightning
He called up to the sky
Lord here I am why don't you come down and take me
I can't live another day of this life
Say a prayer for Francis
And all of his lost dreams
Say a prayer for Francis
That he may find his peace
The waves came crashing across the deck
His boat was last at sea
He found himself face down in the sand
Somewhere in the Florida Keys
He took a breath and looked up at the sky
Didn't ask any questions
He just said alright
He went up to New York
and works on the mean streets
Helping the ghetto children
To safely follow their dreams
The whiskey days are gone now
As he approaches his mid-life
He missed a lot but he likes what he's got
and he says "Sometimes you just gotta smile"
Say a prayer for Francis
And all of his lost dreams
Say a prayer for Francis
That he may find his peace
Say a prayer for Francis
And all of his lost dreams
Say a prayer for Francis
That he may find his peace

I thought the song was good, it sounded well produced. I think the lead vocalist would sound better if he just stayed in one style. It seems like he is transitioning from a raspy style and a clean style at random times in the song. Also, a few times he went off pitch. Honestly, I think your a much better singer than this guy.
