D&F's - Fleet Center, and hi

Unread post by infoghost » Fri Dec 19, 2003 6:07 pm

Hey all. Long time lurker, thought I'd introduce myself. Been getting lots of good guitar tips here.

I saw Dave & Friends at the Fleet Center last week. It's was simply the best show and concert night I've ever had.

The minute tickets went on sale, I attempted to get good seats. I've been to the Fleet Center before, and I always seem to get nosebleed seats no matter what I do. Well, this time, I couldn't even get seats facing the stage. The only tickets available were the rear of the stage. I kept getting row 11, lodge (the lower and best seating at the FC, besides the floor) or way up high. I figured there is no way I am gonna miss this show, so I get as close as I can, which was section 18, row 11. I of course fretted the entire time that I would not be able to see, but again, I am going to this show no matter what.

We get to the FC, and head to our seats, expecting the worst. We walk to our section, and I am almost ON the stage. No way. So I figure my seats are probably way back. Because they cut off seating for the stage, row 11 was ROW ONE. This can't be happening. I can almost reach out and touch the piano there. And since were were slightly elevated, we didn't have to crane our necks looking up. So now I am really getting excited. We have a perfect view since the stage is fully open. Also, we are right by the stage entrance/exit. It's about 5 feet away.

Then the opener, Emmylou Harris came out of the side door and was standing by the stairs. About a minute later, DAVE WALKS OUT and starts talking to her. Then they both walk up the stairs, and he hits the stage and introduces her. As he is walking back, he is heading right for us. He gets about five feet away and the girl next to me screams I LOVE YOU DAVE and he mouths back, without missing a beat, "I love you too." She nearly fainted, and proceeded to call everyone she knew.

Anyways, the view was great. The only bummers where when Dave or Tim sat on the stools. Other than that, they moved all around and were always looking back at us. I'd say with the exception of the first 5 rows, and having to see them from behind occasionally, we had some of the best seats in the house. 15-20 feet away all night long, and a completely open view. It almost felt like we were on the stage, we were so close.

It was an amazing show,

Thanks for listening, and hello. I had to share my story with someone. :) I look forward to hanging out here, talking DMB and guitars.

A little of everything. I started it back in March with another guy, who does all the coding. I am the co-owner, site editor, reviewer...whatever needs doing. It's doing pretty well actually, for being run out of our pockets. We have a few others helping with the writing. And always looking for help. :)

We may even branch out into other forums of media at some point. It's really a hobby that grew on its own a bit. We were both video game nuts and we worked on another site, and split do to differences with them.

Lately though, I've been much more into music than games. I guess I am growing up. Eek. But we knew we might want to write about other things, hence the name having nothing to do with gaming.

Thanks for the welcome.

Good writing skills, a decent idea of what info people are looking for in a review, stuff like that. We buy alot of our own games and review them (hence the percentage of higher scores) but we are now getting quite a few freebies from publishers, so I send those around to the 'staff.'

It's a lot of fun, no pressure, we just aim to have a good time and offer unbiased writing.

Hit me up via email or IM if you are interested in sending something my way.

I haven't actually played in a long while (my PS2 is so lonely), but I would be willing to get back in the game if I had a reason to. I play mostly RPGs and could give you some reviews on those when i go out and get them. If you wanna see some of my work, you can go to RPGFan and check out some of the reader reviews (I'm Dazehead and Fat Jack). I don't even remember which reviews I wrote because it was so long ago...

Hands down the best concert Ive ever been too, I was also very close. A kid I went with went to the one at PSU and he said this one was 12000 times better. I was so amazed, he put his guitar down like three times so he could dance like a mad man for 2-3 minutes and it wasnt just his little move your feet dance, he was DANCING. It was awesome, the show was 3.5 hours long and there was so much energy, I hope somone videotaped it so everyone can experience that on some level.

Agreed, the energy was AMAZING. The band was totally on all night, and you could tell they were having fun. I still break out in a big o'' smile just thinking about it.

This pic is not from the show I was at, but I circled, with total paintshop skill, right where I was at the fleet center. That close. Yes.
