last night i bought 2 packs of elixirs (1 ac 1 el) and today i started to restring my alvarez. for some reason my D and G strings snapped. elixirs are expensive and you cant buy single strings around here for them.
luckily, the guys at my local shop are amazing. i called them to ask what the problem could be, and they said the tension doesnt even have to be that tight and the strings could break. it has a number of different factors.
he also said that he would give me 2 strings to replace it with, which was amazing of him to do. he just took 2 out of a full set. i have a deeper respect for the guys at my local shop

I still love how my store (which I am going back tomorrow to try out a soundhole mount fishman pickup on my new guitar, so I can see if I want it for x-mas), I love how I went there with my guitar for the adjustment of the neck, he does right there in about 7 minutes, asks for about 20 bucks, and then just go on chatting about guitars. Man, I LOVE Good & Loud Music.
Yes, I am in a box

More evidence elixers suck balls.

Never broke a D'add putting it on, and theyre only 6.95/pack here.
And wtf are you doing putting them on an electric? An acoustic, I can understand at least. But electric...youre the first person I've ever talked to who puts elixers on an electric. No joke.

the reason my strings broke because my tuner was in the wrong key (F, shoulda been in C)
and elixir makes electric guitar strings. theyre all nanos i believe. i swear by elixirs.

I know they make them. I've just never met any electric player who uses them.
