I am sitting in Chicago after both shows and I have one thing to say: these shows were not worth it. They were utterly weak in almost every way. I've never been so disheartened by a performance. DMB just dicks with the fanbase really by not catering to either the hardcores or radiofans...they say they're playing for themselves, and good for them, but we pay the bills and I for one won't be doing so with near as much ferocity in the futre. Not even worth a song by song review...it was all cheap.

12.14.02 Well this looks pretty good on paper:

When The World Ends *
You Never Know *
Crush *
Grace Is Gone *
So Much To Say *
Too Much *
Bartender *
Everyday *
Loving Wings *
Where Are You Going *
Fool To Think *
Grey Street *
Song That Jane Likes *
What Would You Say *
What You Are *

definately the best set so far. So why was it so bad? I would like a song by song review on this one. at least for some of them. The Friday concert was pretty much the same as the earlier ones.
good, and you?

well, I guess it would be better if it looked something like this:

#41
Don't Burn The Pig
Lie On Our Graves
Say Goodbye
Recently
Drive In Drive Out
Dreaming Tree
Crush
Last Stop
Halloween
#40
Bartender
Ants Marching
The Stone

Encore:

Warehouse
Two Step
Watchtower

but I doubt we'll ever see that.

We are way way way too spoiled.
good, and you?

I could care less about rare songs, these shows just were not good, 2nd night was the worst!!! the few songs that typically always please such as bartender were ruined by the fact that dave couldn't hit any falcetto notes in the outro...it sounded like garbage. the best part of the show were song that jane likes and ants marching kinda...but they were just weak...it felt like they were just doing them to do them...there was no earnestness in even songs like the stone...just weak and again...NOT WORTH IT!!!

fuck, that's too bad man. Dave was probably sick or something for the songs to be that bad. do you know how many shows are left on this tour?

no, it just seemed like no one in the band really cared...butch and carter are always good, they're professionals through and through, but the rest of the band minus stefan to a degree just were putting on an act...they were just playing the songs for the sake of playing them...there wasn't anything behind them...it was just bizarre to watch. I hardly even know how to explain...it just seemed so fake. Bartender and Grey street hit home at how fake it was when they couldn't even really get those going...Butch did save Bartender though and he's not even really in the band!

well, if its that bad, they may as well stop touring. the tunes you say feel fake, because they're not pouring all of their heart and soul into it. Well they're touring for the fans, dmb fans in general not only expect them to tour regularly but also expect a perfect concert everytime. Am I right or am I way off. I don't know what to say.

if they continue to put on shows like these, then seriously, people will not pay to see them. they couldn't get the crowd going at all at UC and it's not because they didn't know the songs, they just didn't give a rip about selling them...

Just wanted to say that Butch is a beast on the keys! I get more than a little frustrated when people suggest that having guest musicians like Butch ruins the songs because "he's not part of the band," or some other lame excuse. He's an amazing musician with a phenomenal feel for the music he plays, and unbelievable improv skills.

I heard from somewhere else that carter was amazing at that show, now it seems like he was "off the hook" because everyone else sucked.

carter is always off the hook, but it felt out of place in pig and stone when no one else in the band was going as crazy as him...
