So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

You're forcing it out of your throat. Try letting it come naturally instead of pushing it. That's your problem. For some reason, people think breathing is the only thing you need to know to learn to sing, but it's a lot more than that.

the sore throat and the light-headednessare 2 seperate issues.

your throat hurts because you are not singing from your diaphragm, so you are straining your vocal chords. you should always be relaxed no matter how high or loud you are singing. this is especially important because you can do permanent damage if you are not careful.

the dizziness is due to improper breathing, but not in the sense you might think. it used to happen to me when i was first learing songs (classical songs not pop songs) that require a lot of air (loud songs, high songs, long songs...). when you first learn a song, it's not natural yet, so your breathing doesn't really have a pattern...it's almost like learning a strumming pattern for a song. if you breathe too much or not enough, or in an uneven rhythm, the lack and ruch of oxygen to your head can make you dizzy.

keep practicing...
