New Cover.. Caedmons Call...

Unread post by 4monthguitarplayer » Wed Sep 03, 2003 3:13 am

If you all havent heard of Caedmon's Call they are more of an acoustic rock/contemporary christian band. I went to their concert last week- great show. I just did a cover of one of their songs called, Coming Home. I thought it turned out pretty good. Its all on one track i sand and played the same time. im up for any constructive criticism :)

good song.

Guitar: the playing was pretty good. you have the chords down and you didn't really miss anything big. however, your rhythm is a little choppy. I don't really know how to explain it, but when you strum a song like this, make sure your arm rhythm doesn't change. its hard to explain. a good way to pratice this is to play w/ a metronome. its hard at first, but it'll help your rhythm. also i think one of your strings was out of tune.

Vocal: no idea. the volume of your vocals is WAY too low. on my next cover im goign to get someone else to mix the tracks. you may wanna look into that. if you're recording all on one track, you may wanna look into just increasing volume. sing loud :D

Keep up the work though.

thanks for the reply. yea the song is a pretty intense strumming one so its kind of easy to fall off the pattern just a little bit sometimes. I think with the singing i need to move the mic closer to my voice not so much the guitar, but its a loud strumming song so it kind of overpowered my voice thanks for listening

I have my mic inbetween my speaker and my radio, which is next to my monitor, at face level.. try and get it close to your mouth if you do both tracks at once, cause it will definetly pick up the guitar, which is much louder then human voice.. :)
