So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I think the most desciptive out of the options is "the best (or close to it) of our time" - the best since the early 90's...this generation...

but the DMB fails in comparrison to countless other bands, especially from the 70's ;)

Nothing will beat the music of the 70's, unless we have another decade like that (please god)..but he is def IMO the best of the 90's, still has to prove himself in the 00's, hopefully Some Devil will do it. Gravedigger has so far, lets see how the rest of it is.

I completely agree. I was a little surprised to see that everyone else also put that choice. I thought i would be the only one, among a bunch of "best band ever"s and "among top 3"s. But totally, all the classic rock bands and all that are better than he is.

Top 3.. No... Top 5-10, Yes, I would think so... They are one of the most successful, if not THE most successful tour bands of all time.

why the 70's... lets not neglect the 60's as well...

and i would say they are far from the best band of the 90's. i would definitely say they are the best in POPULAR music, but there a great many other bands (jazz and whatnot) that are much more solid but lack recognition

hmmm...seems like I'm the only one that put best band ever...

well, I'm sure there not the best band ever to a lot of people... and i will agree that there are better guitarists/vocalists, bassists(for sure), violinists(most definitely), drummers(maybe), and saxists out there with other bands, that would be more impressive solo.

But I will tell you that they are definitely up there with Zepplin, Rush, and all the other classic rock/rock groups...

I guess I think they are the best because I could see 50 DMB shows in a row, whereas I could see maybe 2 or 3 at the most of any other band(of any time) in a row before I got sick of it...

So, to me DMB is the best band of all time.

DMB is probably the only popular music that I listen to daily. Greatest ever? no. Greatest in the past 20 years? Maybe. Greatest in our current generation. Almost definitely. They have good competition from RHCP, U2, Nirvana, and some others. Personally, I like DMBs sound and lyrics the most out of all of them.
I love you oh so well, like a kid loves candy and fresh snow.

You defintly need to cover one more area:
A Band I Love, but not one of our best...since you didn't have it I went with "a great band not among the best". I always considered DMB a great band, but probably not one of the best, even of our time. I think you would really have to have a firm grasp on music in general. Most people don't but feel free to proclaim DMB as the best band EVER, if you like.

I never got what was so great about Nirvana...

Anyway, I think Dave is one of the best song writers of the last 50 years...I mean, his writing is just excellent in so many ways..I love having to really think about a song, gives it more meaning to me.

Great band, BTW. Everyone in the band is highly talented...how can you beat Carter? honestly, the guy's the closest thing you'll get to Jesus on the drums (no blasphemy intended).

Neil Pert...probably the best. the man has a phd in percussion...i mean come one.

As far as the dave talk, i think it depends on what you're talking about. i rated top 3 ever talking about jamming ability and live performance. yea they've slacked off lately blah blah blah, but they are still the best live band out there. some of the only guys i know that can play a 3 and a half min song for 21 min and never get boring. ie 41
